Big Sky Site
On public land, big sunsets are the attraction to this site with the Rio Grande Gorge as a back drop to the east. This site is about a three minute drive on a dirt road to an overlook close to the rim of the gorge. A Two wheel drive vehicle could access this site, though an all wheel drive or four wheel drive would be helpful after rain. It is possible to park on the hard packed dirt road nearby and walk to the ceremony site, however, in most cases, one can drive right to the site area. The entire area is flat and composed of sand and small rocks. Parking is expansive. At this site, you are less likely to see other people in passing. (Photography: Poetic Images by Deanna.)
Please note: Though I always monitor the condition of these public lands, it is possible--but unlikely, that the condition of a site could be compromised and an alternate site would have to used. Weather, seasonal changes, unpredicted human changes, are amongst the possibilities.
